Back in the day it was all to do with avoiding the payment of purchase tax. If the car was in kit form, the purchaser wasn't liable to pay it. One would surmise that even then Morgan were managing to find enough buyers without employing such tactics.

We see advertisements like this quite often. Surely it is misleading advertising? I would have thought that there should be laws against this sort of thing.

The Morgan company could complain to ebay or whoever is publishing the ad every time it happens.
