Getting to grips with the car on an almost daily basis now, and wondered if there's a way to adjust the clutch and brake pedals to become a little more 'upright'..?

The brake pedal in particular feels to have too much inclination back towards me from the 90 degree upright position, where your heel contacts the bottom bracket.

It's not particularly easy to drive the car slowly in traffic as the motor skills needed are moved from the ankle and foot, up to the thigh and knee muscles which aren't used to the small movements.

Are the pedals adjustable for angle? I don't recall all cars being the same, from memory.

Probably possible but easier to just get used to floor mounted pedals Steve.. they have a very different 'action' to the more familiar set up..

I once had to drive a car with the throttle pedal in the middle..now that was weird.

I'm sure some of the fabricators on here could maybe adjust the angles but i reckon it'll be a faff to get it right..

It's theoretically possible to fit spacers between the chassis rail and pivot tube mountings but you would need to establish the effect on master cylinder travel. That would bring the pivot closer and rotate the pedal further towards vertical.

I was all over the place with de-clutching and braking when I first got the Plus 4 but it feels just right now. I'd give it all a bit longer then re-assess. We are all different though!

A simple solution: glue (or bolt) some rubber, plastic or wood onto the two pedals.
They are more "upright" in your direction than.

How would that work, they'd be tilted further forward surely?

Sorry, had a different picture in mind.
Went down to the garage to have a look ... my idea will not work

Edit: has anyone got an idea where the washer could have fallen off?

It may depend on what car you've got but on my 07 +4 you can get some adjustment on the brake pedal by moving the clevis on the servo push rod. Loosen the clevis locknut. Take out the split pin and clevis pin. You can then screw the clevis further on to the servo push rod. Replace pin and split pin, then tighten the lock nut. This may be enough to get the brake pedal in line with the throttle. You may have to adjust the brake light switch afterwards.

If the washer has fallen off then a nut must be some where too?


Given its size and position I would look around the area where the steering column assembly is held to the bulkhead behind the tubular cross member framework

No intention to hijack this thread - but I found the location for the washer and the nut. Had to fix 6 loose nuts in the neigborhood too. Not a lot of space available there for a grown up guy.
