Our old car had +8 spots. I think I used them twice in 10 years. The dipped beam was adequate and main beam fine - with Cibie H180's. The current car seems OK in the dark - better than SWMBO's Mini.
I would save the money and fit uprated bulbs as others have suggested. Interesting Paul, my car has Cibie headlights with uprated bulbs and Cibie Oscar driving lights, but when driving the Morgan after our daily drivers I must say I find the lighting very inadequate. I'm currently researching LED alternatives for the headlights and seem to have found some that do not look too modern. I'll post more if I go ahead.

On older cars it's not uncommon to fit uprated Halogen bulbs and find the lights are no better than before.
This is because the performance of Halogen bulbs fall off dramatically as the voltage falls.
For this reason it's essential to feed them directly through a relay. Thanks Mike, I'm pretty sure mine do not have a relay in the system. Will see if a relay improves their performance, once I get one fitted.

Brian Have a look at these Lights the truck lite ones are meant to be good as well, Thanks Adrian, those look well made and much cheaper than the ones I was looking at. I'd really like to see one illuminated, the only thing I have against them is that blue background which is presumably the side lights. Have you seen them fitted on a Mog?

Do your homework carefully - as a lot of these lamps are coming over from the states with flat dip beam and no throw up at the side of the road , definitely get to see a working set.
The Blue background is the Bowers watermark I think Brian.
Also careful that they don't trip your CANBUS lamp fail circuit

Hi I haven't seen them lit or in any car, so it's a bit of an unknown. I did not notice that they had a blue bar ground. On close inspection the bluefish bit I think you are referring to in the picture on the original link looks like a metal mounting bar inside the lamp. If you look at these Other lights they look blue because of a transparent watermark that's blueish. That may be exaggerating the blue look on the metal bar on the originals in my first post

Also careful that they don't trip your CANBUS lamp fail circuit I trial fitted the ones Williams sell, they need a load resistor for the sidelights but were fine on main/dip.
