Hi there,

Does anybody know where these can be sourced by themselves and not with the whole lens and/or fitting.

I've found a source for the gaskets.

Or does anybody know the thread? It seems close to M3 but not quite...

Thanks,

R.

I managed to get some a while back from Holdens

I would think the thread is BA?

Out of curiosity...they look similar to domestic light switch/ socket face screws. Are they similar thread?
I will check my parts boxes to see if they fit. I have spare screws and a spare car indicator light and if the top hat brass inserts are there it may work.
thinking

I tried that (they're M3.5) and just too large. M3 bites but that's all, so not quite right.....

I have read re-tapping the "nut" to M4 is a winner.....

I agree Steve, probably 5 BA, although I haven't checked. Easily confused with 3.5mm because BA is based on metric thread forms and pitches.

Easiest source of BA fasteners are model engineering suppliers like Chronos.

Uncle Melvyn keeps them in stock together with the little brass thingymajig that goes on the other end. Passivated finish, not chrome.

Just did the check in my bits box.
Confirm they are not the same thread.
Worth a try anyway!
I did discover a pair of brass top hat type fittings and screws so ready for when needed. I kept them as spares when replacing a light fitting 2 years ago.

There are at least two threads in use on Lucas lamp covers. I know this from experience. I think one is Metric as above and the other is closest BA.
The brass top hats are available for either.
The problem with aftermarket setscrews is that the head sizes vary and some are single slot if that bothers you...........
