I saw and bought a beautiful coffee table book a week of so ago called "The Art of the Hot Rod"
On the front cover was the bonnet of a Model T Hot Rod with a rather delicious looking bonnet strap that had what I thought was a custom made fancy Spring
However after a bit (rather a lot actually) of digging and Internet searching apparently this 'Spring' is known as the 'Miller type Spring' that became part of an early famous Model T hot rod and the bonnet straps using the Spring are custom made in the USA
However after another trawl, a few emails to the states, I found a vintage car parts place that were willing to sell me 4
They arrived from The States last week and so another Winters project is to make either one or two custom bonnet straps using the 'Miller type Spring' for the Morgan
It's early days yet and I haven't quite fully designed it and it is going to incorporate a leather back panel to stop the Spring scratching the bonnet and louvres but I'm looking forward to introducing a bit of Hot Rod bling to the Mog

I've working up a drawing of a strap design that will enable the spring to work to tension the strap but will have a felt backed leather pad behind to protect the bonnet

Would you like to send me over the drawings and I'll take a look...
