Ah yes......but what Morgan radiator are you referring to? You cannot compare the older radiators to those of more current cars. The Williams alloy radiator which I had fitted to my 3 litre Morgan last year works well in all temperatures. The fan still comes on in heavy traffic in stop start motoring but then this is to be expected with little airflow through the core. I think that there is little to choose between the radiators from Williams or Mulfab, they differ a little in construction and mounting but both are superior to the standard radiator.

Not too sure, but I think they all are a modern core. (what ever that means).

+8 Bitsa - I do have heat problems - SPAL Fan in front - at 70MPH climbing a long hill I heat up. Think fan becomes a blocker - If I would mount the fan in back of the rad - problem probably solved. I just slow down.

'63 +4-4Str - Replica of Original Rad - Mechanical Fan with Flexalite fan blade - (I can cut the blade to make it pull more or less air - noisy if not cut) - Also fabricated a shroud that fits behind the rad (designed by a Texan)

'61 DHC - Flexilite Honda Fan with shroud mounted to back of rad. I will try to post pictures of the +4 & DHC

Perhaps it is a problem of the airflow, Beltempo wrote. I have a meshgrill behind the grill and perhaps this reduces the airflow. But I think the meshgrill is important to prevent stone hits which can damage the radiator. I also have the Brooklands front splitter which also reduce the flow.
I drive a lot in the alpes were you drive with low speed and hard work for the engine. Therefore I think it will make sense to replace the radiator to a bigger one.

Is your car fitted with air conditioning?
The fan will run to keep the aircon matrix cool

I also make a radiator to fit this model

I also have a 3.7 Roadster - bought new last year. The fan comes on at low speeds (crawling in traffic) and when the car is stationary but goes off as soon as I get moving. The engine temperature is fine and so I have always assumed this was a feature of the settings on the fan thermostat and that it is not a problem with overheating. It may be worth investigating this before fitting a new radiator.

My 3.7 Roadster does exactly that too.

That is the fan cuts in when in slow traffic etc but goes off very quickly once on the move.

We had the MOG 16 Rally plaque fitted to the front chrome bars over the weekend and it was notable that the fan cut in more often.

Proving - in a non scientific way that the standard set up works!
