It was considerate of your daughter to organise her wedding between the Mille Miglia and the Rallye Laon. You must be very proud of how well you have brought her up. thumbs

A nice run through Lacey Green , Speen , Princess Risborough , Wendover & home to blow away the cobwebs.

Say lots of classic bikes , some old Fords & a Caterham.

I took the new Roadster out this morning, some fresh winds out but mainly sunny, and called in on my God-daughter to see how the GCSE's were going.

She jumped into the passenger seat and we set off down to an airfield cafe that's only recently opened and mum followed in the family car. I say followed, we may have had to wait a while, ahem..

Had the Porsche Club turn up with about a dozen various models, but they wanted a select parking slot and not the public car park. I parked next to a gorgeous Blaze Orange MG BGT V8 and exchanged the knowing smile & nod as he started his car up to leave.

The Roadster is settling in nicely, and I'm getting more used to the heavy clutch pedal and the power steering...and that sports exhaust...oh, boy.

Great few hours..!

Went up to Come Hill yesterday for a walk. A great day for a drive. Side screens off & lots of sun.

Yesterday, to and round Castle Combe.

the Plus 8 is quick.
Massive acceleration and brakes.
If I had the skill, experience and more importantly, the bottle, I would have been very quick.
Enormous fun..brilliant day.

At the last run before lunch a very occasional odd noise from the engine became, with the very liberal use of lots of revs, permanent. Tom at Williams confirmed my suspicion that it was something connected with the "fan" belt, probably the tensioner pulley or the belt its self. So I parked Tarka and went and played.....

More on that on a separate thread, but the bonnet, cowl and possibly the wings will have to come off, so it is going to be expensive...

With Tarks sidelined I also went out with Richard in his "£1000 MX5" and Charles in his rather more expensive narrow body 4/4. Both equally fast, tyres howling round quarry and drifting a little towards the outside of the corner, but very different.

The Mog was nicely controlled in roll and the back end tight, but even with a properly set up Suplex front end the was nodding very slightly.

The MX5 was the reverse, much more roll, the front end working well, but the back sort of squirrelling about. So, my conclusion is the best combination would be Panhard rod fitted Mog with independent front end....

Unfortunately my return journey stopped at Williams, where Tarka now sits pending diagnosis. Richard took me home in the MX5... I could be tempted to take a share with him. The car is quick, fun and cheap, so accidents don't matter.

Not today, but a nice run over to Berrybrook yesterday.
Henry was "missing" - believed to be lurking at MMC!

I took the scenic route home and even after 12 years of owning my 4/4, I still arrive home with a smile on my face.
Whilst waiting at the only set of traffic lights in Budleigh Salterton; I had a very smart lady exclaim, "Oh, what a beautiful car"

Lovely brand new +4 in the showroom at Berrybrook. Green, black interior piped green and full bumpers, mohair hood etc. Very nice, but a shade over £50K
scared
