Which is the V8 version? I could only find the 380 bhp V6 on the Jag website - the XE S
Check out the Range Rover website for the RR SVA This is the latest Gen III iteraton of JLR's AJ-V8 engine (launched 1996) which has progressed from 4.0L (including some downsizing steps) through 4.2 4.4 and 5.0 versions, with and without supercharging.

My client who is getting a project 8 has
XF SVR
NEW RANGE ROVER SVR 560bhp (V8 5L Supercharged), which we managed a 1:20.8 lap of Castle Combe.
Brand new one off F-TYPE SVR SVO, 575bhp

Brand new one off F-TYPE SVR SVO, 575bhp Definitely a guy with more money than taste. For the half million (?)cost of that lot he could have got something really nice rather than souped up mass production items. Nothing wrong with JLR cars for what they are, but flashy not classy

And a Ferrari is not flashy? I never considered a Ferrari to be flashy. Some owners may be, but that is true of many cars. For me, a Ferrari is a beautiful piece of automotive engineering. I remember writing to Maranello Concessions in the 1960s for brochures. Since then I have always loved the 275GTB. Favourites still include the 512 BB, the 348 GTS and the 456.

A mid engined Ferrari is a beautiful piece of engineering and designed with a real purpose in mind other than posing. But come on now! The Range Rover started life as a utility vehicle for use in the country. Its ended up as the epitome of "made in Chelsea". And then to stuff a tuned V8 in something as top heavy and lardy as that - words fail me. But I guess it sells well with African dictators and arab war lords.

I wish Land Rover all the best and quite like their juke box bling interiors, but they are not what we want at all. Mercedes are also good at interior bling and that's what I like above BMW and Audi, but apart from the SLK, I'm not fussed about Mercedes either, although the much older two seaters are quite attractive.
