Thinking of getting one of these to dry the Morgan after washing

Has anyone any experience of them and are they any good?

Seems very expensive.... a leaf blower would work just as well I would have thought.

I have to say I'm a teensy bit skeptical of the '8hp' claim. One horsepower is 746W, so to get 8hp you need nearly 6kw which means pulling nearly 25 amps through the 13A socket.

If it does produce 8hp, it either does so for extremely short periods, or it's capable of over-unity energy generation - which would make it a truly massive bargain!

As to whether it's any good as a car dryer, I have no idea, but I would think that you'd need something pretty powerful to dry a car off in a sensible amount of time, and if one doesn't have a leaf blower then this might fit the bill.

They are also claiming that it has a heating element as well as the 4HP / 8 HP motor.

Therefore the little white lie is getting to be a large black lie.

Just doing a bit of research and in The States it is rated at 18 Amps for a 20 amp system and comes with a 12 gauge 20 amp chord

Bypassing all the minutiae for a moment, I bought one a few years back for hair drying the bikes before popping them back in the shed. It's the massive version though (bought at a show and the show price was a 'must'...it's a bloke thing..) and will easily shoot leaves and dust up if pointed at the ground..

It's a great way to get the nooks and crannies perfectly dry, but it's not quick. Water does take a while to evaporate completely once it's chased out and you notice because it tracks across the paint you've just dried, so you do several passes hunting out the final drops.

The bike valeters use them every time, though. They can't primp and polish until it's all dry, which is very similar to giving the Mogster a good bath.

I don't use it every time, but they are good bits of kit and worth having in the cleaning armoury.

I think the one that's the size of a hand sprayer would be ideal.

That's even curiouser, the Yanks use 110V, so 18A just gives 1980W or 2.6HP.

Just had a look through that website & your highlighted one is massively OTT, Stewart..!! Mine is the half size one to that, and a handful as it is.

I'd plump for the Sidekick, if I had a choice.
