As we plan our move I am thinking of the essentials. One of which is a shed.
I see that now you can get plastic interlocking shed bases kits rather than laying cement. Has anyone done? If yes what was good , what was bad?

Yes, I did this with my wooden garage base. Good thing, the tiles are recycled plastic and fit together easily. Also provides insulation from ground. Bad thing getting it level unless you can easily level your site. Concrete is more expensive but will find its own level when poured. The kit I bought came with a membrane so it will breathe whereas concrete never will and can cause condensation when cold.

I used them when I moved our aluminium greenhouse. I dug out a flat area, put down a layer of pea gravel, then the interlocking plastic tile jobbies, then I filled the pockets with more pea gravel.
I was quite happy with the result for a greenhouse, I think if I was doing it for a shed I'd consider using paving slabs over gravel to provide a more stable surface. Getting them truly level took quite some time - but then I was working on a slope so digging a flat area wasn't completely trivial.

My shed is on paving slabs over gravel. Laid by younger stepson - one of his trades, groundwork.

I have just laid such a base for a 10x8ft shed. I got the plastice sections from a company on the web called "the shed base company". Very quick delivery and much less hastle than concrete. My site was not level so I dug it out, levelled with ballast that I happened to have and bordered the site with gravel boards. Filled with pea grit the whole base seems stable.

One of my sheds has both a 4/4 and a Plus 4 chassis cast in the them as re-enforcement, cheaper than rebar!

Good timing for this post. I am starting to plan the garden in the new house. has mentioned putting a shed up. That could mean her design/use not mine I will have to tread carefully. I have plenty of spare slabs so that will be my probable method.
