For those that might be interested this is the spec of my new engine. 4.8-litre with forged pistons, top hat liners, larger P38-spec main bearings and big end bearings. Fully balanced. Big valve cylinder heads with 41.5mm intake valves and 35mm exhaust valves. Kent TVR885 camshaft Cloyes duplex timing gear. Shortened intake.. this combined with fully mapped fuel and ignition systems = 281bhp and over 300lbs/ft torque. The engine is extremely smooth, ticks over calmly, and pulls like a steam engine in any gear. I should have done this years ago. David Byrne (one happy bunny)

Nice spec there, you have gone for the capacity increase rather than a wilder camshaft which is probably right for a road car. The extra torque will be useful on the road for overtaking. That bay looks lovely , clean and tidy, and very shiny.
Just one question: I am not sure that a "shortened intake " is . Do you mean the shorter length trumpets in the plenum chamber, or is there some other mod?
Did you go for an uprated clutch to cope with the additional torque?

Andy, yes the clutch is uprated as is every thing else that I could think of, trumpets ,plenum and intake manifold all matched and ported, trumpets shortened. I wanted an engine that was docile at tickover but pulled smoothly in any gear and went better than it looked.

That looks a good set up should be pleasure to drive on the road. Is the exhaust manifold still standard?
