I've been resting Tarka.... I'm exploring the mysterious ways of my new friend, also known as the Custard Tart. So, inevitably she is now "The Tart" I have to run her in... first 1000 miles no more than 4500 rpm and no use of sports or sports+ mode or launch control.... So I need to get past the first 1000 as soon as I can. Already it is clear she is quick, and like Tarka, makes me smile!

It’s tough being restrained isn’t it Peter? With Florence I was told to keep it to a maximum of 3000-3500 rpm for the first 1500 miles. We’re at about 1300 miles now after a month- today I “accidentally” went up to 4500 rpm + on a couple of occasions and, even though she only has a two litre engine, I managed to scare the crap out of Lady HB with the pace and noise from the sports exhaust. Like the gun scene from the “1812 “ at Burghley House battle proms on acid. Can’t wait until I’m allowed to do it regularly.... Lady HB is now talking to me again which is a relief but has said it’s best I press the noise pedal when it’s just hubby time... 😇 HB

Only about 25 miles in total today but spread over 6 hours or so. Went from hotel to Dean Forest Railway to meet up with mater and later who’d travelled down from near Reading to join us on a trip on the train, then onto the Globe at Alvington (didn’t look special from outside but decent food and service inside) and then finally a 6 mile trip back to hotel. The last bit was on single track roads, with occasional passing places, which was great fun. For the first time we experienced the power of Morgan- without exception every single car (at least four or five on this journey) pulled out of the way to let us through. Every single one one! In my Audi I would have had no leeway but in Florence....well who wouldn’t love her? Even mum and dad, who for various personal reasons haven’t been interested in the process of getting Florence, loved her. When we met in the railway car park one of the train chaps in his orange boiler suit barged between us (even though we were in mid conversation) to talk about Florence and MMC in general. I had to explain to mum that this was nothing unusual 🤣 Unbridled joy the whole time once again. HB

Just a little run up the hill in back of My home to check the front suspension. Sure felt hard/stiff. Returned to check air pressure. 45+ PSI in both front tires. 20 PSI in the back. I had had the front tires balanced and weights moved from stickons on the inside to lead clipons on the outside. Tire tech must have increased the pressure for some reason. Leaving for California on Saturday.

It’s tough being restrained isn’t it Peter? HB Its un natural! I went out in Tarka yesterday...when the sun shines it has to be done, so I suspect the Easter weekend will be Tarka Time. The noise and acceleration is an interesting: when we test drove the Plus 8 it was CJ who, giving it some (well quite a lot), was captivated by the raw power and deep growl. She made the decision to buy the car, for which I'll be eternally grateful!

I was led to believe earlier today, that there is only one Tart around.. And he still managed a nice brunch, too.

As well a MULFAB Panhard Rod and Anti Tramp bars. Remember, My +8 is a Bitsa. I took liberties with this mainely in choosing the Drive Train and brakes for finding parts in the U.S., economics and performance I was looking for. I also had lots of advice as a participant of EMOG which was active at the time. Believe Me I did not save money. Would I do this again? Probably if I was a Young 75 again. It was interesting and fun to build this Bitsa.

No. Just the expense of a dentist visit.
Hopefully tomorrow's return trip from MMC will be less fraught than that of Wednesday afternoon. Stupid/blind van driver (probably on the phone) in the village of Tirley was very close to getting a Morgan embedded in the n/s front of his motor. One way to wear out tyres!

Lovely drive ‘cross country to Cambridge with Mrs Fox Terrier and the Fox Terrier Amy Johnson herself, to pick up a mini bass amp. Parked in the park and ride all day and had a nice stroll around the city - lovely place. And as a bonus, when I got home I noticed that my fuel economy had gone from the low 30s to nearly 42 mpg!
