I have got a MGA from 1958 on my radar. Seems to be in fair condition. She has got a 1500ccm engine, US re- import, has been renovated some years ago and was on the road every year since back to Europe. Passed last MOT-inspection without problems. As this forum has got specialists for all different types of cars: do I have to watch out for something special when checking the MGA prior to purchase? ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/36508358gn.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/36508359kh.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/36508360pl.jpeg)

Had an MGA1600for many years, great cars. Main problem was rust ,the A B pillers were very prone ,Quite major to repair, possiblely a body off repair. Hope this is a sound one.good luck.

I have owned 2 MGAs, they are lovely cars but the body structure is complicated and difficult to restore. From your pictures it looks as though the wing beeding is body colour ( it should be grey) which suggests the car has been incorrectly sprayed with the wings on.

I guess like all cars of this age just suspect and check everything. At least it has a separate chassis so if push comes to shove you can take it apart to sort things. I have almost bought one twice but both times ( surprise, surprise ) it was too small.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Hi, they are simple and easy to work on but rather delicate compared to the more rugged TR's and Healeys of the period.
Corrosion is the biggest issue and chassis/bodywork particularly as Ray has said in the A and B pillars, also for body filler hiding problems especially if its a recent paint job, there are some traps in the design that will rot out so really get under and check everywhere.
Mechanicals are no issue and spares readily available. Like a lot of classics, can be lovely cars if done properly, many aren't so be careful.

Hannes, this one is a bit different - Our stunning 1957 MGA roadster has a sneaky modern twist with a 5 speed box and mgb engine combination. Incredibly easy to drive and so comfortable in today's traffic. Full details at cathedral-classics.com https://www.facebook.com/cathedralclassics/videos/655644948245017/
