Great vid NM!! As the Britsh part of me emanates from Gods own County I agree with much if not all you say The first really strong memory I have of my Morgan was driving down leafy country lanes (en route to Goodwood) on a mild evening as the leaves were turning with the side exits spitting and echoing off the verges and for a moment I was transferred back to the old Bentley Boys era, a true recollection of what forms 'Britishness' in my mind: Bulldog spirit, guile and technology, righteousness and chivalry all wrapped up with a sense of fun and frolics. Not a recipe for everyday, but nice to drop back to every now and again. Now stop that Boshly.....you're making me reach for my rose tinted spectacles again ! Just had a really nice drive over to East Anglia this morning in the 4/4. Started out just as the sun was starting to burn through the morning mist. 160 or so miles with the top down, sun shining, got friendly waves from two Morganeers en-route (One at Holbeach on the A17 and one just past Kings Lynn on the A47.......hello again if you are reading this !) Just relaxing now on my boat with a whiskey after a nice meal and a few beers earlier on this evening........yes, I feel very fortunate to be living in good old blighty. God bless and good night all ! P.S. My boat is British made too, and powered by Perkins, just in case you were wondering...Craftsmanship at it's best.

I hope you won't mind if I add two observations from foreigners. The English have a remarkably uniform set of assumptions about themselves - almost all of which are false They think they love animals but they impose quarantine. They proclaim fair play but inhabit perfidious Albion. They say they are reserved when they are repressed; they claim they are uncomplaining when they are uncommunicative. Before the world they affect sang-froid but at home they honour Men Behaving Badly. They call indiscipline individualism and bloody-mindedness common sense. They espouse a mythic past and mistake it for a progressive story of peaceful change and democratic climacteric. They name themselves the Bulldog breed but their bark is worse than their bite. They inhabit clouded hills and think they are in Jerusalem. Good for them, I love their magnificent irrationality.
and: What other country, after all, could possibly have come up with place names like Tooting Bec and Farley Wallop, or a game like cricket which goes on for three days and never seems to start/ Who else would think it not the least bit odd to make their judges wear little mops on their heads, compel the Lord Chancellor to sit on something called the Woolsack, or take pride in a naval hero whose dying wish was to be kissed by a fellow called Hardy (Please, Hardy, full on the lips, with just a bit of tongue.) What other nation in the world could have given us William Shakespeare, pork pies, Christopher Wren, Windsor Great Park, the Open University, Gardeners Question Time, and the chocolate digestive biscuit? None, of course. Happy Easter to you all. Meabh>

Sorry, but most of what you've posted is utter nonsense. Yes, but entertaining nonsense and perhaps a nice balancing weight to one of the faults which DOES seem to accompany 'Britishness' whatever that is- and I admit I have no interest in it whatsoever- which is a tendency to take ourselves ( yourselves?) a tad too seriously. TechnologyAfter having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, Australian scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by the Aussies, in the weeks that followed, an American archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet and, shortly after, a story was published in the New York Times: "American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the Australians". One week later, the Essex County Council , reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in Colchester, Jack Lucknow, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely (edited) all. Jack has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Britain had already gone wireless." Just makes you bloody proud to be British!
