That may be true in a political sense but we should still be proud of our heritage and aspire to keep our 'Britishness' intact where ever we can...right?, o.k. that's me for the day.....i'm off in the Morgan for some fish & chips ! uk

I couldn't agree more!

Yes please- and Let's hope we have now come a very long way from the mentality of the Dictionary of British Bibliography which used to say " For Wales, see England"
It always puts me in mind of that 'orrible motorway sign: 'Hatfield and the North'

NM - Hope you can read the attached. It pre-dates me a good decade or so but to my mind captures some of the essence of being a Brit. I can say that after nearly 20 years out here with the Yanks I now see exactly why they think Britain is so 'quaint'. Life is good out here, but not necessarily better!

One last note - the definition of a true Englishman is someone who can play the accordion, but doesn't.

Happy Easter all!

Wooaa there! I hope that was a typo. smile Good warm bitter with hops you can get your teeth into for me please, chemical concoctions that are only drinkable if refrigerated are definitely for Johnny foreigner.

There was a documentary recently about the A1 in which the official responsible gave a very good explanation for why they settled on the phrase "The North". It actually made sense but I'm darned if I can remember it now. Think I've been chewing too many hops!

Thanks to the original poster, a very entertaining video.

Wasn't it a Brit who said something about "Go down (i.e. drown) like a gentleman"?

I always thought that was a nice sentiment. That if you're out in the "wild", don't rely on people saving you, don't rely on technology and so on.

I'm pretty confident it was some British bloke who said it. sos

I like mine at cellar temperature Ian!
Feels cool in this current weather, but not cold...

Many years ago, Freeport Bahams, Pub on the Mall I think it was, used to serve John Smith's bitter (from cans), but it came out of a freezer and one was given a frosted glass also from a freezer. Fellow could not understand when I asked for a non-frozen glass, then left the can in the window to warm up! The idea that one was supposed to 'taste' the beer went right over his head rofl

Cheers,

Great vid NM!!

As the Britsh part of me emanates from Gods own County I agree with much if not all you say englandwave

The first really strong memory I have of my Morgan was driving down leafy country lanes (en route to Goodwood) on a mild evening as the leaves were turning with the side exits spitting and echoing off the verges and for a moment I was transferred back to the old Bentley Boys era, a true recollection of what forms 'Britishness' in my mind:

Bulldog spirit, guile and technology, righteousness and chivalry all wrapped up with a sense of fun and frolics.

Not a recipe for everyday, but nice to drop back to every now and again.

Cheers
