For the use pattern you mention I can see the common sense in it. I even briefly thought about trying a Tesla 3 Performance the other day. Just for a moment. It must be catching on!

The Porsche Taycan does look interesting. They are also going to electrify the Panamera and other models.

I don't intend to be rude but you only have to look everywhere else in the VW empire to see what they are going to do with the usual 30% Porsche tariff.

Your EV is not as Green a you seem to think when you factor in the rare metals in the battery, their extraction and the re-cycling of the batteries at end of use. Also the provision of chargers for those not having garages or specific parking spots is far from solved. Yes-- EV's make absolute sense in cities from an air quality point of view, but I do think the environmental argument is far from evident.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51474769Goal posts have potentially moved again only since last week ! How about banning sale of petrol and diesel fuel , that would be fun , by say 2032 !

Yes-- EV's make absolute sense in cities from an air quality point of view, but I do think the environmental argument is far from evident. On the other hand, the argument for continued use of ICE vehicles frequently seems to forget the colossal environmental damage inflicted by the exploration, drilling, extraction, transport, refining and distribution of fossil fuels. I'm all in favour of maintaining a critical eye on all potentially damaging human activities, but let's ensure we maintain a consistent methodology. The commonly-used life cycle analysis for vehicles is the "Well to Wheel" method, and using this EVs come out consistently much cleaner, about 2/3rds or less that of equivalent ICE vehicles. Unsurprisingly, FCEVs fueled by hydrogen cracked from renewable electricity is the cleanest. https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/f...oleum_use_emissions_vehicle_pathways.pdf

" seems to forget the colossal environmental damage inflicted by the exploration, drilling, extraction, transport, refining and distribution " where do the rare metals come from ? and where do they go at the end of life .
