I managed to quit both smoking and fb.
I have other problems, like dark beer, maltwhisky, modelrailroading, and I`m also an obsessive greaser, at least once a week.
Talkmorgan has given me technical support, entertainment, and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

Obviously TM is the first and best place to look for any info with regard to Morgans however, please don't think that Faceache is all bad. There is a small ( but perfectly formed ) group of Suffolk SS100 owners on there where we have our own site which acts in the same way as TM does for Morgans. As there were only 360 (ish ) SS's built and many are abroad, the access to this site is a great help for a nation wide group of enthusiasts.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

I occasionally visit facebook, but am so old that I find its layout and arrangement difficult to follow, I much prefer the forum layout. In addition I do not like the anonymity that Facebook provides: the best thing the Government could do to regulate the many bad behaviour on facebook would be to require all users to give Facebook their contact details and proper name.
As an aside, I rather liked the High Court Ruling today that says, in effect, free speech is more important that hurting a snowflakes feelings.

When I worked in police ops room we had calls from people complaining about facebook comments. The childishness is huge!
Why on earth do people think it is a good idea to put so much personal drivel on there? Have online arguments, spread rumours like Chinese wnispers?
Even Pistonheads has drifted down this route in some topics.
Some of it becomes entertaining though.

One of the joys of owning a "Modern" Morgan is that I don't have to grease the kingpins and it has modern suspension.... hide exting

As a teacher and now ex-teacher I was advised not to do faceache. This was emphasised when a pupil stole my identity and set up a false FB in my name and stated that I was a paedophile and was looking to meet young boys. As I was not on FB I could not get it taken down and had to do this via my daughter. It took them several weeks to remove it.
Therefore the only social media of which I avail myself is TM which is a fantastic place to be - fun, friendship and advice taken and given. It`s the PLAICE to be. soapbox

Phil you highlight a good defensive posture.

I join the public platforms and take my name or as close as possible so that a public (guarded, locked) ID can be seen. I put some basic identifiable information on it that shows it is mine (a Morgan picture but nothing of me or my birthday etc etc) and then leave it there. If you have a public persona this is a good way of protecting it.

If someone now tries to hijack me I can point to the real pre-existing garbage that is never updated and so they can see I am not a user and this is not my real ID.

What does give me a giggle is when we interview someone and as part of this we review their sochul medier presence to find out if they have a position which could compromise the role or worse the business. I have come across a neo-right wing bigot with a thread that would be caustic to a KKK member in the past. They didn't get the job. You have to wonder how people think that they can put this stuff out there and not come back to bite them? I respect their right to have views that differ from mine.

It does however remind me of when I was best man a long time ago and we built an entire "alternative" life for the groom on Twatter and used it for the best mans speech. Even we had a problems deleting it afterwards. Those were the days.
