I have to agree that Hammond is/was a Morgan owner and fan so I should at least give him credit for that even though he seemed to make light of his Plus Six's demise.

I also agree that Top Gear was just a bit of fun however I still don't find Hammond watchable, though hes probably a much nicer guy in person than Clarkson who is at least watchable.

The real shame of it to me is that another Plus Six has bitten the dust prematurely.

I went to college with Hammond

He was in the same building at the same time on a sister course - I was on the Foundation course and he was on the BTec (or whatever it was called back then) and I did socialise with a few on his course as it was the same faculty building and same tutors but sadly I can’t remember him (memory of that year was sketchy - art student living away from home and all that)

And added to the insurance problems that must be accumulating over the Plus Six, given the low production volume and apparent high accident rate?

Just did a quote online with Admiral for a Plus Six valued at 109k - £404 a year. Garaged, 52 year old, 8 years NCD, no convictions etc. Similar price to my old Plus 8.

It would be interesting to see what you get for a similar car out of interest, Audi R8 V10 or Pork 911 C4 ought to be in the same ball park? Or a high end Lotus which might fit the specialist profile?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Well my very brief affair with the Lotus Exige 410 was £424 p.a. and that was via Go Compare (with "free" £250 excess) the specialist Lotus insurer was almost double. The same I have always found with nearly all specialist brokers. I know there are other benefits and you pay your money and take your choice.

The Tesla 3 we took delivery of last week at work has had quotes varying from our Fleet policy 2.5k to £834 online.

The other two are simply obnoxious.

James May has done some interesting solo programmes, but the underlying problem with James May is that he's not a petrolhead. His You Tube clips demonstrate that clearly. He has no time for classics and is very pro electric. For me that devalues his "product".

I've never watched The Grand Tour, and I hardly ever watch their old Top Gears now. They have faded into semi obscurity.

Let's face it, presenting car shows is one of the most demanding tickets. We are so hard to please, and so without knowledge and charisma, it just doesn't work.

Top Gear was unwatchable by the time Clarkson canned it, and hasn't been a lot better since. The format is tired, and we don't see any fresh approaches.

Not watched them but he has YouTube vids about a pub he has bought and he was in last months Boat magazine - got the editor to help him buy a boat.
