Normally, modern cars leave me indifferent, they often don't have any emotions that could reach me. But yesterday, this Aston Martin was driving behind me and also parked at the wine merchant. What a car! In my eyes, a very good mix of tradition and modernity. I like the classic lines, the proportions that have been preserved despite the high-tech appearance. And what a great sound. There are so many offers that make you think of a trackday, but which look ridiculous in the city from my point of view, Lambo, McLaren etc. Maybe it's my advanced age that determines my taste. My Elise is more of a nice toy, even if it doesn't look classic. But it is not what a McLaren exudes. I like the fact that, despite this upper class, there is a bit of understatement regarding this Aston Martin. If I've seen it correctly, it's a DBS Superleggera with 725 hp, which you perhaps don't need rationally, but which probably gives the owner a nice feeling, especially when the power comes so refined from a V12. Speaking of owners, this is not the kind of car that invites small talk about petrol. It is rather the exact opposite of a Morgan where allways! talk generates. Anyone who drives up with 285,000€ wants to keep their distance, or at least that was the signal I got from the car alone even if the driver seemed to be a nice guy from far at least. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/01/28D19694-B5B3-4156-B59B-FCCBA68F0C7F.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/01/D10890A8-AA4E-48D8-882A-1AA69F893B0F.jpg)

I have seen cars worse than this😉
The only irritation of the fluent lines is the section directly after the the front tyre on the second picture. That segment looks a little bit odd.

Heinz, I'm with you on this one yesterday we were in Dartmouth and we saw a Burgundy metallic version of this car with the registration 777 FLY and it looked stunning. Super cars don't do it for me but it did look good. Far too big a car for our country lanes a visiting second home owner I expect and I'm sure he/she enjoys driving this one down here to stretch it's legs.

Hannes, in the metal this section looks very smart. Black shining carbon, not like a gap where something is missing, but a design aspect that underlines the perceived lightness of the Superleggera concept in my view. The line finds a dynamic continuation between the body and the rear roof column. Richard, too huge are this modern cars unfortunately almost all.

The MD of one of the business I am involved with bought a DB Super Leggy soft top about six months ago. I have not been a lover of the recent Astons styling but I do like hers.
When she spoke to a local dealer about her interest you watched a well oiled sales machine move very fast. A number were available ex-factory with high spec very easily suggesting a bit of a stock surplus. A decent deal was agreed!
I would be happy to park the Coupe next to just about anything and feel it was at least as head turning I do think the SuperLeggy gets the nod.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

That looks good, wouldn’t want any monochrome colours though, needs tan or maroon interior, a subtle metallic colour and not black wheels. How are AM doing these days, are they still financially stressed?

Aston do seem to have kept good styling. Long may it be so.

I've had some time behind the wheel of one of these - they are a lot faster than you might imagine. I had a Vanquish for many years, but the DBS is considerably quicker. A real rocket. It drives very well when the suspension and gearbox are all set to sport.

Definitely the best of the modern Astons. The new Vantage is not the sequel I was hoping for.
