I am just shy (never!) under six feet. I cut down my seat battens and introduced a wedge effect that lowered the rear of the seat and hence the rake of the rear of seat and uplift of front support. Certainly is better (and added a small lumbar 'Union jack' cushion!) I guess a reclining seat would be a solution but expensive..

Left foot is a bit of a drag I admit but I assume that with the effort required to use the clutch that a 'gentle' rest on pedal is not too much of a problem..or on longer journeys I use the 'Automatic' position (tucked under)

Yes, I do the same. However, I like the idea that a mini-support for the left foot could be made to work.
I am 6'3" and I only just fit in the car but apart from the left foot issues I find the car suprisingly comfortable on long journeys.
Overall, the driving position is pretty damn good, I reckon.

Sliding seats? Reclining seats???

I can move the backrest on my '76 forward, but that's as far as it goes with the bench style seat. However, fully back is at the nice upright angle I like. With the older car I have more room in the transmission tunnel area so out on the open road I get left foot flat on floor with leg propped against tunnel, and for variety tucked under as per automatic style.

The seat base on the drivers side is going a bit soft, but I've found for longer trips adding a 3/4" piece of packing foam has solved the motorcycle bum syndrome laugh2 . One day I'll get around to redoing the seat foam (on the driver's side smile ).

Cheers,

After years of driving with the bent arms position I can't imagine how anyone can drive with arms straight -it must be so tiring - and be in control. I always drive the shed like that now and I'm six feet tall.Meabh.

For me, the driving position is all part of the fun of ownership (and my seat backs are fixed). My left foot when not on the clutch, leans against the tunnel. I find it surpringly comfortable and particularly like the close proximity of the lovely Lady Budster when she is travelling with me.
love

Though the hood is rarely up, I do find the car particularly cosy when it is.
