I have been with Headley Insurance for nearly 20 years, and they’ve always been excellent,
However, today I received my renewal notice.
My renewal date is tomorrow!
Quick panic and I’m now in the process of sorting it out.
I had received no earlier correspondence.

There's lots of recent chat about Headley in this topic: Insurance? Does mine seem excessive?

A common technique in subscription programs is to give the customer zero warning which makes it harder to get competitive quotes and so forces him/her into default renewal. We will see this across more and more things as economic pressure bites and companies become more cut throat in their internal decisions about how to keep customers. A-Plan have become the same for our home stuff. NFU now sees me more often.

Sad.

Gott and Wynne sent me a renewal notice on 25 June for the 25th July, and the premium is a few quid less. So the Plus 8 stays with them for another year.
Even if I can't drive it.

At least you get a renewal notice…I didn’t and rather than waste my life on hold, I contacted G & W…instant response and 5% cheaper for me.

Mine is due on Saturday.... so should I expect my renewal notice tomorrow? I've had no response to my phone calls so have already switched to G&W.

Update.
I phoned Gott and Wynn, who apologised profusely, but would not have been able to sort my insurance in time (today).
But lovely people to talk to.

Eventually I received an email confirmation from Headley that I had paid and was covered.
I think that Gott and Wynn will get my business in future.

Headley are struggling to deal with their workload.

I believe that there is an option to cancel with insurance.

I am aware of a friend who suffered a last minute "thank you for your continued custom we have rolled over for another twelve months and you premium has gone up 9%" let it roll over then cancelled two days later having sorted his replacement.

Or if you ask to cancel they have to make a repayment to you.

It might be worth asking.

I don't think insurance renewals fall under the statutory 'cooling off period' which is why companies abuse the timely reminder
