Not so sure of the rigid fuel pipe plumbing! You can't polish rubber with Brasso Standard arrangement in that era, the joy of the banjo bolt. You can see the result of my 8-month battle with rigid fuel-line incontinence in the Whart have you bodged up today thread. Always thought they put a spiral in a solid pipe to absorb vibration and expansion?

Always thought they put a spiral in a solid pipe to absorb vibration and expansion? I think that's true. I'm not sure about expansion but I agree a loop is used to absorb vibration. The early Austin 7s have a loop in the line between the scuttle-mounted tank and the carb. The later cars have a mechanical pump and a rigid fuel line without a loop, I guess this is because the pump and the carburettor are both bolted to the engine and therefore vibrate in unison! I've no idea about the Lagonda engine (sadly). Perhaps it just doesn't vibrate.

87 miles today in the Roadster after leaving home at 5.45am. Empty roads out past Bawtry, and through Clumber Park, out to Cuckney, and over to Ollerton before turning for home and breakfast.
The Notts/Lincs borders are peaceful rural roads with low traffic volumes and the scenery is quite good.
Only a handful of cars on the road, which is why we do early morning drives. Back home around 8.30am.

I don't really like adding to the wealth of the super rich, but a visit to Chatsworth on such a lovely day was superb and my Mum loved the surprise for her 85th Birthday ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/06/Chatsworth-1.jpg)

Indeed I have. A 90 mile drive around Cambridgeshire. Coffee and meet just outside Horningsea, then cricket in March. Takes me over 5k miles since Jan 1.

Last week a short trip to Italy with the 4/4 - the plan to use the Plus 8 failed because a few days before i recognized the front wing support bracket was broken :-( On the way down i had to put on the hood three times because of heavy rain, now i manage it in under 5 minutes :-) After heavy rain on the Lukmanier Pass it decided to take out Davids book again. The rain was not only outside the Morgan. Way back beautiful but hot weather. From Centovalli over the Lukmanier Pass, Oberalp Pass and Klausen back home. Totally ~750km that weekend with no issues. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/07/IMG_7930.th.jpg) Oberalp Pass Klausenpass ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/07/IMG_7946.th.jpg) Forgot sun protection and burned my arms. Just a very short trip from home today to the abandoned and mostly disappeared Second World War airbase of RAF Metfield, used by the 353rd Fighter Group and the 491st Heavy Bomber Group of the USAAF in WW2. I came across it the other day as I was cycling along a single track road known as Christmas Lane and saw what looked like old runways crossing the road. It has a fascinating history which includes a tragic major explosion that occurred when bombs which were being unloaded from lorries exploded without warning. 5 airmen lost their lives in the incident and many planes were damaged and destroyed. The photo shows what's left of one of the original service roads that ran between the ends of the two runways - now used as a farm track. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/07/tempImageCs0Oqn.md.jpg)

Lovely pictures but Craig do for goodness sake push that errant bulge of piping down just under the drivers door as it's hurting my eyes.. I'd be pretty sure it's not corrosion causing it
