They are a tight fit I have to thump mine but usually the red mist helps

Don't forget a relay to protect the horn push from the current the horns will draw

As my plus4 already had wiring for a second horn, I presumed it was ok to add a second one without adding a relay. It’s been ok for the past 9 years. I found an identical unit with a higher tone at Holdens. It happened to be their cheapest offering at something like £9 at the time. Trust Morgan to select only the finest available!!
I also fitted a vintage style “ooh-ahh” with separate button under the dash, but did fit a diode relay for that one.

Incidentally, I use my horn fairly often when approaching blind bends on our narrow country roads to both warn oncoming traffic and possible horses or walkers. I was always taught to also sound your horn back when hearing one from others to warn them similarly of your oncoming presence. Sadly, drivers rarely seem to do that nowadays.

I've been driving for 60 years and never heard anyone sounding their horn to warn that they were there, but I do live in Essex !

When I was a trainee many moons ago, I had to be assessed by the transport foreman to drive company vehicles. This was one of the things I was tipped off about before going out on the road with him. “If you don’t honk your horn on tight bends, he will fail you” Guess it’s stuck with me and tbh ,, I think it makes a lot of sense....as long as we don’t turn out to be like the streets of India.

I did not know about the rule to honk before turning but in the old days, as far as I know, one could use your right arm/hand when turning.

I am not sure if it´s allowed nowadays but in a similar manner I wonder if an electric horn can be substituted by the driver screaming loudly and if there is a Satnav beside you ask her to scream as well.

If this would be accepted by the authorities I would have had no problem with my horn push :-)

I honk on sharp blind bends. Brought up in Devon where the lanes don't give any chance of mercy. Similar ones exist in Suffolk

It's very easy to split the plastic casing of the horns apart,(4 screws) they often trap water in them leading to rust pimples forming on the diaphram, easy to clean up and gives the lazy sounding horn a new lease of life

That's had some serious water ingress. Sort that and it'll be fine.

And in Dorset, especially on Cranborne Chase. Three years ago we took a couple of American friends for a brief tour of the Dorset byways in our tin-top. Apparently one of the ladies kept her eyes closed the whole way. Not my driving, but she'd never been out of the U.S. before and couldn't handle being on the "wrong" side of the narrow roads. Yes I did use the horn.
