I recently ordered a new set of seatbelts from Morgan Spares and I'm just a tad nervous as they are a little different to what is currently there .
The current reel anchor point has two locations to bolt the reel housing - on the top and from the side whilst the new one only has a bolt hole on the top.

I was wondering what other Morgans of this age tended to have for their anchor points and whether it's considered safe to install the new ones. The current installation with a large wood screen through the side anchor plate doesn't look particularly well done, so perhaps this was an after market addition .

Pictures can be found here - thanks you.

Original : Original reel with top and side anchor points
New : New seatbelt with single anchor point
Side view : showing wood screw position for second anchor point

I'm fairly sure a 1974 4/4 wouldn't have had inertia reel belts originally, my 1980 model doesn't have them.

Our previous, 1985, 4/4 had static belts when we viewed it. Mike & Ben Duncan fitted inertia reel belts as part of the deal when we bought the car from them.

Oh bummer, I should have checked and gone with the original - Graham and Ian - did your cars just have a lap belt or a 3 point with a single anchor point on the wheel arch ?

It is possible to retrofit inertia reel, not that I bothered.

Our 1985 4/4 came from the factory with static belts, I recently fitted inertia reel belts.
All of the fixings were the standard 7/16 UNF seatbelt thread into captive nuts.
The original fixing through the top of the wooden wheel arch on our car is a 3/4" thread nut and bolt drilled & tapped 7/16 UNF for a standard seat belt bolt.
I found that the new seat belt buckles needed silicon spray ("Mr. Sheen" in the UK) to make them release easily.

My 2019 Plus 4 needs replacement belts which is disappointing given age and low mileage. Any suggestions as to where these can be sourced apart from MMC or Morgan dealers? Thanks.
