Assuming I understood your post correctly Arwyn, I was horrified to hear the Moss box pedal assembly has the pivot tube pivoting itself in the supporting alloy blocks, and so wears them oval. Can't understand the need for two pivoting surfaces  Pleased to say that later MMC pedal assembly has the pivot tube captive via the centre pinch bolts biting into pedal pivot tube as below. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/k0qHaCW.jpg) Worth mentioning maybe the re-engineering I made on mine. The assembly once removed, initially to allow painting of ex factory bare steel pedals, was found to have one of the intended three steel side thrust washers missing. I was lucky to find correct size washers in phosphor bronze as shown, adding missing one to compliment the OE PB bushes in pedals themselves. Thorough greasing and replacing the cheap stamped clevis forks and pins with threaded stainless ones and adding clevis pin thrust washers, I now have superbly smooth clutch action, which remains so after 18 months and around 8000 miles. A spin off is more secure brake pedal adjustment as well. I did look into using rose joints but alignment issues would have required too much re-working.

Mine in the '75 has the pedals pivoting on the tube rather than the alloy blocks ... with a grease-nipple on each one ... were a seized nearly solid mess when I got the car for resto ... but it was a satisfying job to pull it all apart and clean/paint/grease it all back to smoothly working condition .... mine has the cast alloy 'organ-pedal' throttle pedal (with cast-in 'Morgan' name) which I've always found nice to use.

Moss gearbox pedals and 4/4 pedals are completely different in their operation.
Unfortunately, well meaning folk on this page don't seem to realise the difference!

The difference from your description was obvious Arwyn. Still don't understand why your pedal tube pivots in the aluminium blocks though

Learned a lot from the above posts - many thanks to all!
So I got my car up on the lift and degreased the (agreed terribly engineered) linkage. Most of the "flopping forward" of the clutch pedal is due to slop in the linkage - specifically all of the clevis pin holes have been worn oval after 50+ years (understandable I guess...but really this is an incredibly cheap and unimpressive linkage!).
So I ordered a new linkage from Linda at Morgan Spares...should fix the problem. I *may* add a return spring as well, as I like the idea of being able to lightly rest my foot on the clutch pedal without wearing the bearing.
