I can only agree wholeheartedly with all the posts. Perhaps the vacations we take together with our 4/4, e.g. often to northern Italy or the Alsace, intensify the adventure and the journey. There is something unique about experiencing time together and traveling with the Morgan. My wife and I remember these trips much more intensely, both being on the road and the experiences at our destination. In this sense, Morgan ownership is an enhancement of all senses, experiences and memories. A buddy that makes everything even more emotional.

So before I do a rewrite, I'm curious as to what some of you consider "The Ownership Experience" really is?

It’s all about coping with breakdowns, whether it’s in the Lake District, the back of beyond in Spain, ascending Col du Tourmalet in France, the North Coast 500 in Scotland, the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, the Col de Bonaigua in Spain or rear suspension failure in Sweden retuning from Nordkapp. Sheer folly to ask the factory for assistance with part numbers when in a country whose language you don’t speak when all you’re provided with are Morgan Part Numbers which are meaningless to someone trying to source a Ford part. Plenty of photos of the car on the back of a breakdown vehicle.

Apologies to those locations I haven’t mentioned.

Admittedly, it’s my own fault as most of the 125000 miles I’ve covered in my car have been on foreign soil and these cars are generally best used for polishing, driving slowly in urban locations whilst grinning inanely to all and sundry and going the long way round to collect a pint of milk. Thumbs up to Morgan Rescue who have been terrific.

For me the Ownership Experience started before my 4/4 was even built!

1. The feeling of being part of a wider community
2. Visiting the factory during the build for which will always be a highlight and peak moment of any automotive experience I've had
3. Driving from the UK and cross across the EU with a final stop in Greece : the experience was only topped by the joy the 4/4 seemed to have brought to many who wanted a picture, waving excitedly and the look of 'you are going where in that?
4. Enjoying a brew after a session of detailing and realising just how lucky one is to have the joy of it all.
5. That such a car can be enjoyed without even driving it.
6. Perhaps not for all, but the day you see it being driven away to it's new owner and that feeling of content that it's time for someone new to enjoy the Ownership Experience

Well it's a dream come true for me, it brings me all the joy I can handle and keeps me reasonably agile on the tools and out of mischief and it looks fast standing still. Sorted.

p.s. I am glad someone removed that vile negative post from earlier in the day from Ken.

I agree with all the above. I hope to be able to hand mine on to the next generation. When we got our Mog, our daughter was 15 and told me in no uncertain terms that I was never to pick her up from school in "that". 20 years later she enjoys driving it almost as much as I do and has taken it round Goodwood quite quickly at BHM's track days. At the last one, we were strolling across the paddock on the way to the drivers' briefing and one of the other drivers turned to her and said how good it was to see a young woman driving a Morgan on track, pointing to our car he asked, "Is this yours then?" She replied "Not yet!"

Perhaps if Dave is looking for a totally unbiased view on ownership, looking a bit farther afield than TM would elicit a broader spectrum of responses...........🤷🏻‍♂️

Your 'average' trad owner seems, generally, to be always pretty upbeat about the whole Morgan experience.

There could be a different viewpoint from some of the early CX owners caught up in the radiator situation.
3 wheeler owners would, I'm sure, have an opinion because of the many 'challenges' the early ones were beset with, although 3 wheeler owners do seem a particularly resilient and stoic bunch.........😆

Owning a car that's been built by a team of folks just down the road, that isn't about aggression but fun. All it ever inspires in other people is affection or amusement.

It's simple and easy to maintain at home, comparatively inexpensive to run, and huge fun to drive because you're not isolated from what's happening. Its performance envelope can be explored at sensible speeds, you don't have to be putting your licence on the line every time you fancy a hoon about the place.

It has been the means through which I have made some enduring friendships that I value enormously.

One location that escaped your memory is Portugal during our circuit of the Iberian Peninsula.

As the hood had been jury-rigged as a result of failure you could not travel beyond a certain low speed without it lifting. To prevent this your right arm was employed to hold it in position during torrential rainfall. The said limb was further employed in wiping the exterior of the windscreen as the wipers had packed up again. In addition to these exercises you were steering, changing gear and navigating some fairly grim roads.

I found it quite amusing until my own experience of a similar roof failure during a cloudburst whilst on the Nockalmstraße Alpine Road in 2016.

The words “they all do that Sir” seemed to spring to mind at the time.

My Morgan makes me smile.

I smile when I look at her as I leave the house every morning, and when I return from work because she's pretty.
I smile when I'm tinkering and fixing stuff (intermingled with the occasional profanity) because she's easy to work on and to modify to suit me.
I smile when I drive, hearing the exhaust pop and burble, hitting the limits on the corners, feeling the chassis flex and squirm, and then the waves and smiles from others as I pass
I smile when I think of the heritage - Dad doing exactly the same as me in his Morgan 60 years ago
I smile when I remember my Grandad, working at the factory and crafting the wooden frame I sit in and then later showing a wide eyed grandson round.
