Delighted to see my tax of £20 auto renew today for my Ford Fiesta Titanium Diesel with pretty much every extra on it and cost me £8,300 new through my SIL in February 2011 who works with them.

It has been totally reliable requiring brakes renewing and a couple of ABS sensors only in 93,500 miles and 56mpg locally so my 14 year old will be keeping my 26 year old Plus 8 company for a while longer when I make the jump to Hydrogen with luck bypassing the cul de sac of EV.

Just as HM Gov slaps £190 VED on all electric vehicles. Go figure. I'm happy to pay but we know it won't go on our roads.

It's going up for everyone from April. A 2011 Ford Fiesta will be £210 I believe.

Prior to 2001 anything over 1549cc (so all older Morgans) will pay £235.

My "new" MINI is £190 this year (to March 31st) but the following year will probably be similar to my 1990 Defender.

Thanks John, so Fiesta stays at £20 and Plus 8 £360 so fair enough and Heathers GTI will be £190 I reckon as it is now, marginal and no difference but the early over 1549cc Morgan's are in for a hike to £360. So less than £11 a week for all that fun all good for us smile

As long as we can still get petrol I'm not too bothered.

I started the post to illustrate that what a good car the Fiesta is and how economic it is to run, plus the bonus of hanging onto a car which suits all your needs and is easy to park and navigate our narrow lanes. As a bonus it handles well.

Richard. If you change your mind about keeping it, you have just got time to replace it with a brand new one!

Ford discontinued the Fiesta two years ago but the Mazda 2 shares the same platform and Mazda only stopped production earlier this week. There are still models in dealers' showrooms if you're quick!

We have a 2013 Mazda 2 petrol which has done over 135K miles. It has been totally reliable, has never given us any major expense and likewise £20 road tax. A fabulous car.

Ian,

Thank you for the information and although I knew they were the same car but had no idea Mazda have a few in stock. Autotrader search here we come.

Really pleased you have had very good service from your car too, they do everything competently without nannying you but plenty of luxury included.

I agree with you they are fabulous cars.

Family member has 2019 Mazda2 1.5. 55mpg when not driven by me! Great car, only issue was rear hatch filling with water - fixed under warranty.
