They will soon outpace us in terms of innovative strength. Then I would also like to listen to the Chinese music from the youtube video every time I drive a BYD Yangwang U7. Yes...maybe, Audi was the Nokia of EVs, Tesla the Blackberry.
Still find it hard to see what's 'innovative' in yet another overpowered generic safe design chronicaly overloaded with surplus technical whizz-bangs that will prematurely falter and cost more than the value of the car to rectify ... market's full of them
The speed at which the Chinese manufacturers are releasing new cars is somewhat different to the pace of European and US manufacturers, but I do wonder if they have really got the background data and experience regarding reliability that will ensure that these cars are still driving in 5-10 years time - or will they just become a disposable commodity once they move away from the dealer network ?

They're now the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles globally, making more than 4 million in 2024, so I'd assume they know what they're about. They also make more rechargeable batteries than any company in the world. With 6 years/100k mile warranty I'm not too worried about reliability.
Personally I couldn't care whether it has BYD or BMW on the badge as long as it does the job I want.
I was very impressed with the quality and the performance is frankly ridiculous.
Naturally there will be many who can't see past the usual suspects but brand snobbery will always be. Ironically could it be the "aspirational" brands that now lack the background data and experience ?
In addition, the car doesn't look bad, something from the older Dodge Charger in the back, the side window line is also very nice, ok, the front face is ugly on many brands today, at least this one is nicer than a new BMW in my view. If this car with 1.2K hp and all the little helpers costs €80,000 in China, then a BYD with 350 hp as a saloon costs no more than €28,000 in China I guess. What are Audi and VW trying to sell there? Certainly not a rubbish car like this one below.
