This when you think a classic Mini set cost about £20.00 for the two! They really do need to stop polishing their Mutley medals and consider the existing customer base as well.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, if it wasn't for the punters paying those hyped spares prices, helping subsidise the revenue stream of Morgan and keep them going, they might not be here today. All manufacturers do it, why should Morgan be any different. It wouldn't feel so bad if the hyped prices reflected better quality components being supplied than you can get elsewhere far cheaper.

With 45 years of Morgan ownership I have never bought anything directly from the factory not even a car, I did do the tour and bought a coffee and sandwich.

Even in the relatively short time I've been entangled with MMC, and there have been several changes of management in that time, the base ethos has never changed.

The factory should at least hold a comprehensive stock of spares and have a dynamic spares operation, but sadly that's not how it has been in my time.

The factory is a magic place, and seduces people in so easily, and yet we can all see how that simple truth could extend and expand the business, but those inside the walls are not interested.

Quite, I don't replace, I repair.... £15.00 for a repair kit. I have a set of spare cylinders just in case I need a quick fix but I have never had a morgan to sort with knackered cylinders, not even scored! Just a quick polish and new seals and dust covers. Frankly I don't let anyone touch my cars, tin tops included as the standard of workmanship is dire out there and there's to much use of the hammer by the ignorant.

There are few things that the folk on TM like more than a thread about trad prices..........😆

So....
The a@se has dropped out of the used sports/toy car market generally. Morgan is affected now the same as more 'normal' cars, which obviously hasn't been the case in the past.
We're not at the bottom yet imho, not by a long way.

The 'legacy' buyers are ageing and giving up Morganing and the middle aged, mid life crisis toy car buyers of today want fast Fords not Morgans.

MMC/the Italians are having enough hassle with their new range of cars, their well publicized issues and and dwindling customer base to worry about trad spares.....but, if it wasn't for people like Melvyn parts supply would have been crap in the past as well........🤷🏻‍♂️

So many used cars are for sale at prices which are totally unrealistic in the current market, some have sat around for ages.......... It's interesting (to me anyway) how many Morgans are now for sale with general dealers or 'normal' sports car dealers because morgan main dealers just aren't taking on more stock.....

I sense myself edging towards another doom spiral of 'it's all going to go terribly wrong', but, sadly it is....
Unrealistic new car prices, plummeting trad and CX used prices, massive oversupply, not enough new customers and old owners giving it up........

Pick the positives out of that............ sorry.

Positives:
(a) I enjoy reading this stuff;
(b) now in my mid-70's, I don't have that many more years left to worry about this;
(c) if the Dealers get it wrong, with poor descriptions and unrealistic pricing, they only have themselves to blame;
(d) y'know what, even if my car depreciates to zero, I have enjoyed the experience.

Well Julian I tend to agree, but it matters not as I am not selling. I do think you should include a picture of private Frazer rolling his eyes to finish that post though....

Yep ... unlike money in the bank, even if your Morgan depreciates to zero you can still have the pleasure of driving it ... and if you bought it for any other reason then the "your investment may go down as well as up" clause kicks in .... don't obsess over markets, drive them and enjoy them chaps ... you can't take it with you! 🙂
