You often see the same item advertised under several different 'cover names' ....presumably any enforcement just gets lost in a forest of ever-changing 'responsible parties' that dissolve like smoke to be replaced with another header from a list of thousands they have just sat waiting ... like being able to change the shop sign at a click of a button and claim to be someone else.

Yes, as I said, to challenge the functionality of a product you have to first provide evidence that it doesn't conform to its advertisement. The ASA will then ask the advertiser to justify their claims, a request that will just be ignored. However, the "even women..." line is a clear breach of the code that the ASA can immediately rule on. The result is the same, nothing will happen!

The answer IMHO is to make the platforms responsible, not just for advertisements but for everything they publish. Facebook, Tiktok etc. should be hit each time they publish a false advertisement or a libellous statement, in the same way as newspapers, television channels etc are.

Chance would be a fine thing, Faceache, Tiktac, etc are above the law and cry 'free speech' when challenged. They don't even take off sites that promote suicide so what chance for a false advert.

Full refund given thanks to PayPal. They don't even want the "strimmer" back, so I might give it a wee go. The brushcutter attachment is a 3" diameter saw blade, so it may work albeit very slowly. Cheers all and thanks again for your help.
