Hello out there!
When out driving today in 28C and full sunshine I noticed a squeaking sound when turning the wheel in low speed in my 2004 Roadster. It sounds lika dry rubber against metal. Just come home so havn´t got time to investigate it.
Any suggestions?

I had something like that, but it stopped before I found out what was causing it - so no help there except perhaps it'll just stop.

I also have something like that immediately after its first service. Appeared to be coming from the steering column. It soon stopped. I put it down to someone other than me using the steering wheel for support whilst getting in or out of the car.
Noise has not returned.

At full lock the tyre rubs against a plate on the chassis.
This is normal but I must admit I have never heard a squeak.
Turn the wheel to full lock and you will see the plate.

Mine too was right after the 1st service ! It sounded like the steering column rubbing on the shroud or something

I had a squeak as well. It was the plastic covers rubbing on the steering wheel boss. I fixed it by spacing the covers with a washer between the cover and the mounting, under each bottom screw.

I had a similar experience, found it to be a mouse had set up home under the dashboard. The little sod then stored the poison bait I put down in the heater box, under the carpets, behind the A posts and in the heater pipes, interesting when I demisted the windscreen I got covered in the stuff, and even when I resulted in using the traditional mouse traps managed to get the bait off without springing the trap. The only way I could get him was locking the next door neighbours cat in the garage for a week with no food and water!

if you have a Moto-Lita wheel it is probably the boss contacting the column shroud.

My noise occurred before I swapped to a Moto-Lita., and for some reason at the factory the plastic steering column covers were trimmed off which left an ugly hole.
I have since done a bit of a badge to cover over the top half, so you cannot see the inside of the cover.
