Talk Morgan
Seen at Silverstone Classic Weekend, when I took the photo I thought I would get home to find this was an exotic Italian, the #64 was not in the programme, however after referring to Anthony Pritchards Directory of Classic Prototypes and Grand Touring Cars I was surprised to find this is in fact one of four SLR Morgan's. Looking at the programme I am wondering if this is the car listed as #67 driven by John Emberson and and Bill Wykeham ?
Would be gratefull if someone could confirm this :-)

It is.
There are actually 3 Morgan SLRs
Silver- John Embersons's
Red- Simon Orebi-Gann's- also racing at Silverstone Classic
Green-Keith Alher's

the other car is based on Triumph mechanicals with similar bodywork so is not a Morgan.

John
I can't confirm any details of that particular car but there was a (red) SLR at Brands Hatch Morgans recently, didn't take any details but that accounts for 1/2 of the total production!

Steve L.
Thanks John & Steve. There is a photo in Anthony Pritchard's book of Gordon Spice driving a silver (unpainted aluminium) car at Brands in 1964 with slightly different nose intake and without the headlights shown in my photo.

The nearest I got to Simon's SLR at 2009 Bentley Drivers at Silverstone. A great 'Rear End' love

The other two 'Rears' at the 2010 Bentley Drivers.

Just to prove I love 'Fronts' as well.

I wonder if anyone has ever thought about making a fibreglass copy of the bodywork thinking

What and then sticking it on an aero chassis.

No, I think you'd find it too large.

It could be modified but my guess is that even then, it would throw off the proportions.

I'm just surprised that no one has made a kit to turn a classic Morgan into an SLR-look.

Why not use superform aluminium? 50k a donor car, would be more appealing than the EVA hide

Not quite what you had in mind,Simon. This little Berkeley 4 wheeler was usually powered by a 650cc Triumph Constellation engine. The fibreglass body, in 3 sections, was held together with Pop Rivets, albeit large ones.

Are you sure these colours are correct? I know that a silver SLR "lives" at Techniques Motorsport and was at Silverstone at the weekend: Techniques are the pit crew for the car. The red SLR was also at Silverstone. It seems odd to me then that a silver SLR should also be for sale at Richard Thorne (and not via Techniques) if there is only one silver SLR!

Connies were Royal Enfield Frank...

Still a member of the REOC, even though I haven't owned an RE for 4 years...

Yes because I race with all three owners and cars!

John Emberson bought the silver SLR from Richard Thorne. It is still on the website with the sold price but John has the car looked after by Techniques. He has had it for 18 months now.

The red car is Simon Orebi-Gann's and is looked after by BHM and usually resides there between races.

The green car (Keith Ahler's ) is looked after by Billy Bellinger.

All three are beautiful cars and very quick.

Well done Graham. Typical of me to get it wrong. hide Thanks for the Info on the Marque.

My first ever steering wheel was on a White Berkeley Trike - (I must try and find the only photo of it somewhere). As swmbo exagerates as she reminds me, "she pushed it further than we drove it".
LOL
With Berkeleys she might be right Frank rofl

I'm not going to argue then.

That explains that then.

I really do agree - I was talking to my friend, after we'd been to see Brian Gateson and the John's SLR in the pits, about why no-one had re-produced the SLR body panels as an after-market kit for Morgans. I reckon that and the wishbone suspension system that's now available would make an attractive and modern option.
(Give me some credit if you use that idea, Matt Humphries ;-) )
Daft question, but isn't it Sprinzel Lawrence Racing?
I thought Spritzel was some form of cocktail? wine

Cheers,
Or even "Sprintzel Lawrence Racing"? coffee
