Octomore can be all sort of ages with 10 years being one of the oldest.
"Octomore" comes from the Gaelic name of a farm in Islay, Ochdamh-mòr, which stangely enough is pronounced Octomore. An Ochdamh was a measure of area being one eighth of a Davoch which was an area of land measured by how much land was needed to grow a particular quantity of a crop or, meaning of course that as a measure of area it varied from region to region or even field to field depending on how good the soil was and makes much more sense after a dram or two.
