If I might be so bold as to assume this has never changed, you should find two bolts behind the bottom band on the grille. Remove these and the grille will slide downwards. Thats how it comes off on my 2005.

I looked at a stainless steel grill a while back and it fitted all models save for a few in 1950's which had the "long" grill so I suspect all are the same as Dave says.

Beware as you slide it back one slip and you can chip off the paint on your cowl . You have to be as steady as a Jock putting his hand in his pocket .

Beware as you slide it back one slip and you can chip off the paint on your cowl . You have to be as steady as a Jock putting his hand in his pocket . In that case the grill might not be coming off then!

Is this for fitting a mesh inner grille? In which case a blow-by-blow account from someone who has already done it would be really useful!

Thats how it comes off on my 2005. Ooooo! Nigel, I thought that Dave's explanation above was pretty clear with several supporting +1s. Maybe there's more to the terse reply.... being a Lancastrian we tend to have a similar view of the White Rose clan as those North of the border when it comes to being "careful" with the small change, stereotypically that is
