I am a new three wheeler owner and new to the forum. I placed my order about a year ago and took delivery of my new three wheeler in November. This forum has been a great source of information and encourgaement as I waited patiently for my new ride. I will say to all who are waiting that it is totally worth it! laugh
I opted for the sport red with the black quilted interior and am super pleased with the look. I have also had a custom bonnet belt fitted that is functional, unlike the factory version which i think looked terrible. I am attempting to upload a photo of my new moggie.

Welcome John.

Looks great and like the belt. I think it's the first I've seen with any kind of belt.

May you have many happy (s)miles.

I like your colour choice John, gives the car a very "traditional" look.

Welcome to TM John. Lovely looking car and at last.....someone has fitted a proper bonnet strap. Good to see a traditional staple fixing. It would have been so easy for the factory to fit something like that rather than the very faux strap I've seen on some.

Enjoy!

P.S. Just noticed.....is that a Simmonds steering wheel as well?

Welcome to TM. cheers

With the M3W being so new it is interesting to read everyone's experiences and see all the extras that owners have introduced. coffee

I usually say about TM that "all your questions answered here", but in the case of the M3W it is still, "all experiences shared here", which is no bad thing. mail

Thanks all! It has been a blast what little weather we have had here to drive before the winter. My car's delivery was a sad story as it successfully dodged hurricane sandy only to be damaged by the delivery company when it came from my dealer. The delivery company used some straps that rubbed off the paint on the lower bead rail on both sides!! Needless to say I was furious. The delivery company was no help and paid for nothing. So a word of waring to all US buyers... Be SURE they know how to handle the three wheeler before you set up delivery. My dealer was very helpful and stepped in to help pay to repair the damage. The shop repainted the lower part of the car and now she looks better than factory! As a result, I had the body rivets painted as well which gives the car a slightly different look than stock.

Jays-

That is a Simmonds steering wheel! I have attached a photo. They made me an engraved center piece for it as well which looks nice. The wheel is comfortable and great to use, but I am thinking about changing over to a fourspoke 14 or 15" wheel for a more retro look.

Oh yes- I almost forgot. doh I changed the mirrors over to the raydot mirrors from SVCC and they are nice but totally useless for rearward visibility. I was worried the stock mirrors with tier long stalks would eventually fatigue the alum body and produce cracks but I may swith back..any thoughts from the forum?

My helmet is a davida 50's racing style and I LOVE it. My goggles are made by jeantet also perfect for that vintage look and very functional. I use them to fly old biplanes and they are super. I think it suits the car very well and it is very comfortable with the leather ear covers. THe bevel box is noisy over 50 mph in 5th it starts to whine LOUD. So on the highway for any distance earplugs are a must.

Liking the steering wheel, think the standard one looks a little utilitarian for the money.

The Davida "Pudding basin" Classic helmet? Very stylish and as you say, the Jeantet goggles look great with it.

I thought the bevel box issue had been sorted out by now.....the car I drove a year ago was very noisy and had its box changed by the factory later. They do settle down as they bed in though.

We like old planes on this forum as well......(trains, planes, watches, cameras etc etc!) so any photos will be very well received!!!!

Welcome to TM John and I hope you're having fun.

Not sure what mileage you've done but the early bevel boxes were noisy at almost all speeds. If you're still in the running in phase and haven't got to the first service yet then I wouldn't worry about it too much, as it should get quieter with use.

Jay-

Here is my other weekend toy. 1929 Bird biplane. It has the orginial 5 cylinder kinner radial engine. 125hp so my goggles get heavy use. The Morgan is perfect for heading to the flying field! I need to get a picture of them together this spring.

John,

I'm in Houston, will probably be ordering soon! Who did you order from, I'd definately want to avoid what you went through.

Love the proper bonnet strap, wherever did you the the hardware and the strap - it's FAR nicer than the cheapo fake strap from the factory!

Hope to see your M3W on the Gulf Coast soon!

Every pilot needs a biplane. I believe that the ideal hangar mate for my Pitts Special is an M3W, and I'll be ordering soon. something about lowering oneself into the cockpit for a fast ride or a good aerobatic session just fits the bill.
