Looks to me like the only thing you can do is a full restoration. That will make it very expensive. Look for something in much better condition...

Many many thanks for all the comments!
I'm thinking real hard on if I really want a full restoring job. I know I want to tinker - but I do fear I will loose patience on a large project. Will rethink getting a car in better condition.
Karl Wikstrøm: Many thanks for the tip on the one for sale in Sweden - looks like same model, in better condition and at a lower price. (Although import taxes will have to be calculated).
Looking at Fjordmog site there does not seem to be much activity around Stavanger or western Norway? Anyone know if there is some sort of club or community in these parts?
Andy: I'll let you know as soon as I've gotten myself a Morgan. Let me know when you got yours over here. Would be fun to meet and have a close look at Morgans!
I live on Sola, just outside Stavanger.

A year ago I wanted a car to tinker with (for work reasons I am in a rented house and cannot therefore do anything to it!).
I ended up with a Morgan in much better condition that I expected to get. Everything worked, it just needed care/loving.
One year on there is always a little project to do, something to tinker with, or currently repair! I veiw it all as fun so it is not a chore and I learn with each job or project and also learn more about the car. This is the first time I have done anything like this and I am really enjying it.
My advice is to get a good car and you will be amazed what you CAN do and not HAVE to do. This means you can also enjoy the trips out just as much.
Just my view on life....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Morgan-Experience-VHS/dp/B00004CKNU There's a bit in this film where Colin Musgrove takes an old Morgan and shows you precisely what to look for. I don't know if it was ever reissued on DVD.

Thanks again for comments and information. The Morgan VHS has been ordered. Previously also ordered two Morgan books. First one arrived today (Original Morgan, by John Worral and Liz Turner). Really useful for me - and it contained allot of usefull information about buying and restoring in addition to history. (The other book I'm expecting the next days are Morgan Four Owners Manual And Buying Guide 1936-1981, by R. M. Clarke) I've decided to try and find a car that is in better condition. Thinking like Richard: more driving and still maintenance tinkering will probably be much more fun and a better way to learn about tinkering with a Morgan. The car Karl Wikstrøm tipped about in Sweden looked very promising. While waiting for response from seller and starting to plan a trip over there the advert suddenly got marked as sold or inactive So - if anyone has a tip for a Morgan for sale - I'd love to hear. I'm looking for a four wheeler, left hand drive, vintage (older than 30 years), preferably four seats.

I think your decision to buy a better car is a very wise one. The car looks like a major restoration project and would be expensive. If it looks bad from the outside, the stuff you cannot see will be even worse.
Good luck in your hunt, it will be worth it.

Looks great, but is right hand drive. But a great site to follow. There are some right hand drives, but to costly for me. An issue with importing is that it will cost me additional 25% of the price and shipment cost in import vat, and around 614£ for registration taxes. Still looking...

Frode Better move to Sweden. I did not have to pay anything when I bought my Roadster a year ago. Do you still have to pay these "taxes" even if the car is from the 60:ies? Ken.

Yes, we have heavy taxes on cars in Norway and import vat on everything. The registration taxes (for getting licence plates) is allot higher on newer cars.
