Bear in mind that when the Roadster Sport was introduced, (09), the front cross tubes were made a bit wider on the Roadster.
So - 2005 Roadster - distance between kingpin centres at the bottom - 1030mm; 2012 4/4 - 1030mm (40.5"). The same width.
Rear axle, spinner to spinner measured externally using my tracking tool: 2005 Roadster 1693mm. 2012 4/4 - 1693mm. The same. This confirms my theory that the difference in width is down to wheel offset. Rear wing width measured from the top, from side of body to edge of wing - Roadster 20cm. 4/4 16.3cm (each side).
And the 2 litre zetec sump is not the lowest point. it's tucked up well away from harm. The low point apart from the gearbox crossmember is the bellhousing but there's over 4.25" clearance which is an inch more than the Roadster sump.

Well, tired after the trip, but not too tired to get the tape out.
Plus my hawkeye neighbour who sussed me out within five minutes of getting back...............

I thought you needed a narrower car - presumably it did fit...? Looks like you've only saved 7cm?

Rear wing width measured from the top, from side of body to edge of wing - Roadster 20cm. 4/4 16.3cm (each side) Congratulations. Not just on the new car, but on finding two symmetrical Morgans! What are the chances...?
