While cleaning the backs of my black wires, and finding 'residues' of 12k miles, a past experience came back to me.
The event was the Oulton Park Gold Cup, when it was a non championship F1 event. The day didn't go so well as I got done for speeding not far from the circuit. I'd only just left the filling station and was accelerating hard (in a 30), and the copper was behind a wall. Obviously there to catch the race traffic. More recently I've seen this at Castle Combe when there's been a Ford RS day and the area is saturated with radar guns. I digress. Anyway, 41mph in a 30 and an £11.00 fine really stung at the time.
But when we arrived at Oulton, I got stuck in the mud and was pushed out by spectators. But the wire wheels (MG Midget) had picked up some mud and during the day it dried on. On the way home I had violent wheel wobble and I didn't work out why until I washed the car.........................
So - if you allow your wires to accumulate grunge on the backs, it might just be enough to generate a slight amount of wobble.

Dave,
My wife has exactly the same problem with her wellies, caked in mud at the back, induces rear end wobble, not a pretty sight.
Oh and many congratulations on your new pride and joy, can't say I saw that coming. I had expected you to broadcast that you had a new Lotus, perhaps even a red one. You certainly have changed since you became the Concours executive. Yellow, who would have thought.

I'm morphing Dave but I don't know what into.
Although orange would be my choice, yellow would be second choice so not really too much of a surprise!

The offside front wheel has a significant amount of "mud" stuck to the rim. The moral is - if you have your wheels balanced, clean them first on the inside.
