It's the hole that gets drilled in the underside of the compensator bell housing to allow access to the grease nipple that is fitted to the current version of the compensator.

It's where a three legged mouse lives...which isn't quite the technical explanation of Calums!

Possibly...but there is an enormous hole in the top of the housing where the steering rack sits so having a hole in the underside might make for a good drain.

And there I was, worried about water getting into the steering rack through the tiny little hole in it!

Aaagh ! I'm pretty sure my compensator hasn't got that hole , does that mean it's full of water ?! maybe that's why its quiet at the moment ....

The factory service dept. told me they drill a hole in the bell housing and then drill and tap the compensator to fit a grease nipple to it so at service time it could be pumped full of grease to keep it quiet. Rather like grease nipples on prop shaft uj's.
