I'm trying to remove the brake drums from the rear of my 1960, I've removed the 4 hex bolts, I shouldn't have to remove the adjusting round headed slotted screws, but that dang thing won't budge. I've been smacking it with a hammer and am about to get out a torch but didn't know if anyone has a suggestion on how to get it off.

Probably hasn't been off the car since 1959.

Looks like this for reference:

Make sure that the handbrake has totally released, and if you have manual adjusters on the back, slacken them right off.
If you take out the slot heads, you might stand a better chance of rotating the drum - try a socket on the centre nut to hold the hub still.
Good luck!

I've also contemplated drilling a hole into the drum over the hub and tapping it, then screwing a bolt through to press the drum off

It will be a challenge tapping that hole!
Once you've broken the rusty seal try rocking side to side, or hammer side to side........

Might need a puller or a bit of heat, recommend you use a hard rubber mallet if hitting it.

I'm more proud of these beauties myself. Buddy of mine works for a brake company that supplies to ALMS / NASCAR etc and helped clean them up.
