When Griffo posted a photo of his alloy wheeled Plus 4, the wings looked hardly wider than the 4/4.
So I asked him to put a ruler over the top of his rear wheel until it touched the inner wing and measure up to the outside of the wing edge.
So:

My 4/4.......26cm ("Some" variation side to side).
Griffo's Plus 4 with alloys: 27cm.
My Roadster with wires: 31cm.

I would like somebody to check a Plus4 on wires please, and also a Roadster on alloys.
thumbs
Added - from later posts:
Plus 4 with wires: 28.5 or 29cm.
There's some slight variation side to side.
I suspect the Roadster with alloys is 29cm. The MMC display car at Silverstone classic looked narrow.

Seems to be a lot of variations in width - maybe the wings are individually fitted to the wheels? Could be a reason why some models can only be ordered with certain wheels?

As you may deduce, I'm planning my next car, but don't tell MrsW. innocent

As far as I've been able to tell Ralf, the rear axles are the same width on all current Trad models, measured from centre cap to centre cap. Certainly my two are exactly the same. So the extra width is in the rim and the offset.

Curiosity got the better of me and I measured my 1999 +8 with 7" X 16" Lightweight Alloy Centre Locks: - 33 N/side 32.5 O/side.

No wonder it looks chunky.. Bit like it's owner...

I was discussing axles with the guys in the chassis shop last week....yes, they are all the same width Dave.
