The coating on the windscreen pillar brackets on my 2008 +4 began to bubble & flake. I was speaking to another owner on Wednesday who has the same problem - same model, same year - in fact our cars were built at around the same time.We did wonder whether there was a duff batch in that period. Does anyone else have a similar problem and maybe a solution?
I was thinking of removing the remaining coating and polishing the brackets, or possibly having them powder-coated. Any thoughts out there?

Regards
Alan

My 2005 roadstr suffered in the same way. I stripped it all off and polished.

The powder coating MMC uses isn't robust enough to survice the Easy-up hood clips.
Once it has started to chip at the top it seems then to come away, perhaps water gets in.

With the 2009 Roadster I did look at buying a new set, getting them stripped and then hard anodised, but the sale solved the problem, BUT the 2014 Plus 9 is starting to show it will go along the same route. So perhaps I'll re-visit the idea.

Actually cast stainless would be far better...but VERY expensive as a 1 off.

If enough people expressed interest it would bring down the unit cost. I would certainly be keen.

There has been more than one finish to the A pillars (probably). The most common is the flat "satin" grey colour. But my 05 Roadster has a darker grey lacquer which has been sprayed on. This may have been done post factory of course, but it's shiny and hasn't budged so far. Phil Ledgerwood sold chromed posts in 2008 for a while, but found that the chrome didn't take well so stopped doing them.

Yes there is a solution a lad in Normog had the same problem he spotted mine in the garage last year and asked the chap could he do anything . I have seen his car in a barn ( farmer ) he is called Dave Smith and it is sprayed to match his light pods . The garage that did it is in Darlington so its a long drive for you. You can phone the sec for Normog and get Daves number. Then ask him for an e-mail photo.

I noticed that my windscreen pillars on a 2014 car have chipped where the easy-up hood attaches. From PeterJ's comments I will now apply some resin touch up to hopefully reduce the spread of the problem.

Heart of England Morgan sells stainless brackets for older morgans. With sufficient interest they may want to provide brackets for the current cars.

There would be a good profit for them if they made some stainless ones.
