Apologies for raising so many issues since joining the forum. Having just started reading Peter Dron's book though there is mention of the fuel gauge inaccuracies, specifically that two or three gallons remain when gauge reads 0%. He suggests that a longer (280mm) sender listed as available from MMC's supplier, would improve the situation. Does anyone know if this suggestion has been adopted before I raise the issue with my dealer/MMC?

Second query is regarding the factory luggage carrier/rack. It appears off the shelf to be finished in chrome or maybe stainless. Again in Peter Dron's book on page 84 a black powder coated carrier is shown matching the Gulf version its fitted to. To my mind this is not only less "in your face" than the shiny version but also matches the roll bars it attaches to. I wonder therefore if its an option?

Many thanks - presumably this one. Would still be interested to know, if it does improve the inaccurate gauge issue, why it hasn't been adopted on current production (assuming it hasn't).

When I ordered my M3W over 3 years ago, I also wanted a black luggage rack to match the black roll over bars and black exhaust heat shields.
Williams Automobiles, from whom I bought the car, aranged for the factory to have one black powder coated for me.
I asume this option would still be available if required.

I can also recommend the longer 280mm fuel sender.
Although it may not be more accurate, the car goes further before it reads empty and yet there is still a more than adaequate amount of fuel (probably 50+ miles worth) left in the tank when the "o" appears

Wonder if anyone has also fitter a "proper" gauge like the one on the site above?

Use your trip meter as your fuel 'gauge', reset on filling & consider refilling after 200 miles.
