Thanks for the props! I like this one because you could put it outside of the normal air flow the fans would take care of moving the air around only once the oil was up to operating temperature.. Also my concern with having the oil cooler out in front all the time is on a colder day where you might want the oil to warm up a little faster having it hanging out front might prevent that?

I have been running a set of Love Jugs for over a year now. I have a manual switch and turn them on when traffic drops to a crawl or stops. I made a bracket that mounts them roughly center rear side of each cylinder about an inch away. I thought about adding a head temp transducer but never got around to it.

Thanks for the information about your testing of the "Love Jugs" twin cooling fans rolsmith, good to know it works for you. Since you live in Arizona, hot and dry in the summer your M3W really needs air moving over the engine fins for cooling when in-traffic.
I would think that only a fan system will cool an engine when stopped or crawling along in traffic. Where as the oil cooler will increase the motor's durability by cooling all of the rotating parts in the crankcase. The combination of the need for instant cooling of the heads and cylinders along with the constant cooler oil should be the best engine insurance possible.

Talked with the lads at S&S when the 'cooling kit' was developed. Fan blows on the back side of the cylinder heads, which is out of the wind. Makes sense. But I agree, JVS, I prefer an oil cooler for all the same reasons ...

Is there any reason you could not just fit an oil cooler on the return pipe from the scavenge pump to the oil tank? I am thinking of fitting mine behind the grille. Because it is behind the cylinders and getting hot air off them, I would need to fit a bigger cooler than one would normally fit but there is no shortage of space. Since fitting the G56 Stage One kit and uprated ECU, the oil is getting noticeable hotter, simply because the car is so much nicer to drive quickly.
