Folks,

Conditions here in Switzerland are fine and so I rejoiced to drive my Moggi for the last time this year ...; however, the battery seems to be down and I'm not able to start the engine.

Does anybody know here how it works to jump-start a Moggi?

I've no idea and searched now for a hour the "plus/minus pin" in the engine compartment but without success.

On my Series 1, I would go to the battery compartment under the tool box behind the seats, then connect jump leads as normal.
A bit of a nuisance with carpets, hoods and trap doors to remove but gets you going.

The earth lead is on the left side looking forward between the bellhousing/block & chassis. (There's a photo on my 'small leak' thread). But any good earth point on the engine should be OK.
The main battery lead is 'obvious' on the starter solenoid. If in doubt use the battery +ve terminal - this is fiddly if it's by the axle but lifting the tool tray out helps.

The Owners Handbook for our 'Centenary Roadster 100' follows what DaveW has said - I quote the book.

"To jump start your Morgan connect the Positive Jump Starting Power Supply , first to the live terminal on the Starter Motor and then the Negative Terminal of the Jump Starting Power Supply to a good earth on the Chassis.

Caution
Great care must be taken to avoid short circuits when Jump Starting a vehicle
Not connecting Jump-Starting cables correctly may result in damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
Do not attempt to push or tow start the vehicle as this may cause damage to the vehicle's emission control system"

This method does not involve dismantling the tool tray etc.

as I have no chance to feed the battery during winter time, because my garage delivers no juice, my Morgan dealer has added a main battery switch behind the seats. This item works perfectly well and you don´t get bad surprises when you want to start your car. Otherwise the battery should be emptied during a period of three weeks time.

Depends on the car, sorry you do not say what age/model, as long as you jump in the start circuit should be OK, because the battery may be a small gell battery under the seat/rear seat by the rear axle only able to get at it by lifting the car

I jumped mine by one lead to the starter red, positive on the pre engage wire and other the the engine block lifting eye (1800 zetec) works fine.

I will fit a battery isolator in the bonnet on the tool tray front side which will allow shut off of the car and an easy jump point in future, I will use an old 24volt Oldham unit from a bus, these are very reliable.
