Thought this might be of interest to other suffers. Whilst my bonnet halves are firmly pulled down by the spring catches the top hinge has always been a bit too free and lose. It would rattles clatter and crash whilst driving around. I don’t know if they are all like this but I do surmise that this may be one reason why the front suspension gets so much bad press. But now I’ve sorted it and what a transformation. Even to the point that I have been driving around smugly aiming at the pot holes just to savour the silence A very simple fix. A couple of meters of this stuff . One meter attached to each bonnet and four little 1/8” thick hard rubber pads bonded to the hinges. I’ve had the pads on for a while but have just added the edging and it has made a significant difference to my car. Little rubber pad bonded on - 4 positions

A good tip Roger. I've not had hinge rattle but I've always used pads at all four corners of each bonnet. Keep a watch on the pads because over mileage some of them squirm out of position.

Nice fix, I had a similar problem, and solved it by making pads from Sugru.
I degreased the cowl so that it would stick to it, and put a smear of vaseline on the bonnet face to prevent. Then I simply shut the bonnet onto the soft Sugru and left it to go off, resulting in two formed pads which stop the rattling.

What is this magic thing Sugru? It's witchcraft, Dave. Mouldable glue that turns to rubber when set according to the High Lord Google.. Crazy!

I use some little squares of self adhesive neoprene. Love the cold air intake
