I'm considering fitting Minilites to my Roadster to replace the crap factory alloys. Minilite recommend 6 x15 rather than 6.5 rims which the factory alloys are. I'm wondering whether I could go with 195/6515 tyres rather than 205/60/15 which are currently fitted as 205s are the max recommended for that rim size and therefore perhaps not ideal.
Anyone else fitted bolt on Minilites?

William's are in the best place for reply you, as they have install a large quantity of this Minilite, in my eyes going from 205 to 195 should be no problem on 6" rim but going from 60 to 65 this is an other story where i can't said i will feel safe to say YES you can.

J, At least one of the Sprint / race chaps has fitted Minilites. Have a word with John Bevan (Sprinty on here). He should be able to point you at the right person/people. Or, as said above, Chunky. Or Tim Ayres at New Elms.
You have the advantage of bolt on wheels, rather than centre-locks... Getting the right rim offset may be one reason the supplier is suggesting 6J rims.

You could always shod the manhole covers with winter tyres when you get your minilites sorted.

John, perhaps it is not worth to add this post because you are aware anyway but be sure that the offset is comparable. Another issue I had experienced with the Minilites, regarding my former P4SS some part of the suspension was touching at the inner side of the rim edge of the Minilite front wheels and it was grinded away up to a dangerous amount. My Minilites were not bolt on but I´m wondering if this makes a difference regarding the unwanted touching of the inner rim. Here are some pics: http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/130764/Issue_with_Minilite_rim_on_Plu#Post130764Perhaps the above written could be the reason to recommend you 6 and not 6.5 Minilite rims to avoid that kind of touching.

Am very keen on this post.
Whilst I really like my SS wires I also like the look ( and potentially performance ) of mini lites.
So thanks for the info . John ...please keep me in your loop!

But of course my car has splines. Which has held me back as I am not too keen on the bulky centre look of the adapter.
Maybe there is a better fix?

Jay
I would also consider going to a 6 x 16 Minilite and then you can use the Toyo Proxes T1 R tyres in 205/55 x 16 which really are the business. This is of course lower profile compared to your choice of going to a higher one, which may be a factor.
IMHO the +8s and Roadsters are slightly over-tyred and I would not worry about going down to a narrower tyre. It might be a tad more lively, but will probably handle better on the right tyre pressures.
