Hi polar993,
How are things progressing with the clanking noise from the rear of your M3W?
I secured the rollover valve with tie wraps as seen in the photo below. I know it looks like I may have overdone it with the tie wraps, but it was the only way to minimize the rattling, and what I have done should not have any impact on the fuel lines or distribution. Please let me know if you think otherwise, and I should adjust what I've done.
Unfortunately while I may have eliminated the rattle from the rollover valve, I have not eliminated my "clanking" problem coming from the rear of my M3W. I still hear a sound that an area below/behind the seat that sounds like metal plates hitting one another. The sound is not constant, and it occurs when going over small bumps...most noticeably around turns. I feel when the weight of the car shifts from side to side on turns I hear the sound the most.
Could it be a cracked chassis??? That is my biggest fear!
The car does not seem "loose" or appear to feel different from day 1, but I have heard a few stories about how fragile the chassis is on the M3W, and I really hope mine isn't cracked!
I met up with Alex Roy a few weeks ago, and he told me he cracked two M3W chassis! Granted, Alex keeps his M3W in Manhattan, and is probably a bit rougher with it than most, but cracking 2 chassis....seriously, that sucks and is a big concern!
I haven't hit any major potholes, and I haven't been driving irresponsibly, so if I did in fact crack my chassis with my normal weekend driving, I would classify the chassis as being extremely fragile! Again, I really hope that's not the case but I guess the only way to find out for sure is to send the car to the dealership.
Ughh!
