My car under load and over slightly bumpy road wants to grab and release ( Im sure there is a better word for that ) ?

Also with two of is in it, it sometimes bottoms out, not all the time but enough to want to sorted.

I remember reading somewhere that its the leaf springs flexing under load that cause the shudder and adding some beefier springs will sort that out as well as bottoming out ?

Panhard rods, correct me if Im wrong, they stop side to side movement when cornering? Do they do anything for the leaf spring flex ?

I have a plus 4 and I like to accelerate sharpish. Now the front is well sorted I want to sort out the back and hit that zen like place of mechanical resonance in The Captain.

thanks folks

Bonesie

Sounds like anti-tramp bars are needed more than a panhard rod in this case. This will stop the leaf spring wind-up under hard acceleration and consequent tramping, which I believe is what you described. Needless to say fit in pairs. I only mention this because for a brief period MMC tried to get away with using just one on early Roadsters scared

Ah,Thank you Richard. I have been enlightened ! anti-Tramp bars.

Are they fittable at home by a reasonable spannerer or is there a more in depth fitting procedure?

Talk to Roger Jones -Rog on TM - I have his Bump-stops fitted to my 2018 Plus 4 and this stops totally any "Bottoming out". I also think it makes the car handle bumpy corners better.

A friend had a lot of "Bottoming" issues and is delighted with Roger's Bump stops which he says makes all the difference

Cheers!!

Ooooh good question, I wondered about that (although I haven’t got the front sorted unlike you).
Another question for me to enquire about at Allon White on Saturday (re cost of fitting anti tramp bars). 👍

I have stiffer springs on the front and 4 seater leaf springs on the rear of my 4/4 which is lighter than your +4 this stopped the bottoming out and gives a much better ride.. Give pete Mulberry at Mulfab or Cain Poulton at Wolf a ring they are both helpful and full of info.

An absolute must. A genius, simple fix.

The bottoming out is reasonably rare, usually with two of us in and when we hit those funny long dips !

The thing I really want to sort is the tramping. after that I will look at bump stops and panhard cheers

+1 for 4 seater 4 leaf springs from Mulfab. Transformed our 4/4. Where previously a local road was limited to 50mph by the car bottoming and tramping, now it is safe at any speed.

I would advise speaking to Mulfab or Cain before you spend any money.

Bonesie, This http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/galleries/555298/Leaf_Springs_&_the_Frame
Is what causes the crash as the leaf spring contacts the ash frame on full deflection.
Rogers bump stops sorted it for me. A very easy fit.
