Gents, I was getting the bike MOT'd at Sarum airfield last week and I stumbled on a gaggle of Morgans, including several Aeros, one had a rather nice set of Rays alloys, I think it was blue with a different colour valance, anybody know who the owner is? I'm after a set of 18"s for mine.
Thanks
Gareth

The Morgan-specific Rays alloys (as fitted to the Aeromax and available as an option on other Aero-chassis cars) are 19"

In my opinion, 18" would have been the correct size for my Aeromax, it was over-wheeled and the sidewalls too shallow. The +8 Aero does ride better than an Aeromax, particularly the rear, so I expect 19"s would not feel too large - if you can find them that is! S

Thanks Stuart, I had assumed that they were aftermarket, the search continues for a set of multi spoke forged 18"s.

The only aftermarket alloys I have come across have been from Rimstock IIRC. https://www.rimstock.com/

Shooter had a set for his Yellow/MattBlack Series 4.

Alex of Purple Supersport fame has also had some.

I don't think either set were without some challenges.

The S2 had a variety of multi-spoke but these were not so common.

The 18's + sidewall on the S2 definitely have a more even blend of comfort, grip and handling than the 19's on the Coupe.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks Alistair, yes the Rimstock are the only option I have come across so far, and are more palatable than the £3k the factory want for the Speedster wheels.

The wheels you talk about are 19" forged alloy wheels made specifically for Morgan and knows as Aeromax wheels. They are eye-wateringly expensive, very light and incredibly robust. I do not know of anyone who has bent or distorted by hitting a pothole.

I have been told that Rays will supply the 18" version to distributors, but not the 19" version: it exclusive to MMC.,
Further, MMC don't seem interested in sourcing or selling these wheels anymore.

I have them on my Plus 8.... happy3

Thanks Peter, it's the 18" wheel I'm interested in, when you say distributors do you mean Rays or Morgan dealers?

19 inches you have this option as well: FONDMETAL 9RR. Check on the fondmetal website if/what they do have 18 with the proper tech specs.

A good question.
This is the link from the Reys site to UK distributors.

https://www.rayswheels.co.jp/shop/world.php?lang=en&gr=1&area=22#shop_list

Interesting that the master distributor is in the West Midlands....
